Hello Guild Members,

As we continue our theme of Adventures in Music this year, there will be more ways for you to experience adventures in volunteering and make an even bigger impact in our community.

In this month's Presto, we reflect on our successes and also look ahead to new endeavors.

Fundraising

Overture Luncheon, held October 25 at Providence United Methodist Church, was a wonderful success, bringing in $15,000 with nearly 100 participants, including Guild members and their guests, CSO musicians and staff, as well as CSYO parents and even a student.

Attendees enjoyed a delicious meal and a dynamic music performance by CSYO musician Joy Ni, and CSO musician, Benjamin Gellar.

The program included presentations by David Fisk, CSO President and CEO; Christopher James Lees, CSO Resident Conductor; and Elizabeth Connor Stewart, Immediate Past President of The Guild.

Congratulations to Tammy Matula, Chair, and all the Table Captains for hosting a memorable fundraiser.

Beat Beethoven Virtual 5K Race

Due to low registration, our annual Beat Beethoven 5K Race, previously scheduled for November 17-18, has been cancelled this year.

More Fundraisers to come in the year ahead:

Taste of the Tour Party, March 29th
Heart of the Home Tour, March 31st - April 1st

Education

The Education Committee and CSO musicians - Taylor Marino, Victor Wang and Alan Black - held a Music Major College Preparation Seminar on October 29 at Christ Lutheran Church. Attendees learned insights to becoming a college music major.

Project Harmony

Project Harmony is currently looking for volunteers to assist with their after school programs held in four Charlotte neighborhoods located at Montclaire, West Boulevard, West Sugar Creek, and Winterfield. Students come from over 50 different schools across the Charlotte region, half of which are Title I.

Special Performance

You are invited to a special performance by Anne O'Byrne, a world-renowned opera singer, accompanied by her husband, David Fisk, CSO President and CEO. They will be performing a variety of classical music on Tuesday, November 15 hosted by Christ Episcopal Church, from 7:00 - 8:00 pm located at 1412 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207, in the Blue Room with a reception to follow.

Volunteer Opportunities

CSO Concerts

We need more volunteers for our Donor Services Table. This volunteer opportunity includes sitting at the SGC Table in the lobby prior to the CSO concert, along with a CSO Table. During this time and intermission, you represent our organization by greeting guests, handing out brochures, and answering any questions about The Guild.

Holiday Social (Save the Date)

We are excited to announce that our 2022 Member Holiday Social is scheduled for Sunday, December 11 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at the lovely Jerald Melberg Gallery in Cotswold on Sharon Amity Road. Stay tuned for details to register soon. We hope to see everyone there to celebrate in the holiday spirit!
